We are not paid by fertility clinics, pharmaceutical or fertility-drug companies, or any provider to recommend them, and our editorial content is not influenced by advertisers. Information about how IVF works, what it costs, and its risks is written independently of the ads displayed alongside it. An advertiser cannot buy a mention, a favorable comparison, or a place in an article.

About our Images

Many of the images and illustrations on The Frozen Egg are original graphics or are generated using artificial intelligence. Unless an image is specifically captioned otherwise, you should assume it is illustrative and not a photograph of a real person, patient, embryo, or specific treatment result. We use illustrations to explain concepts clearly while respecting the privacy of real individuals.

Diagrams, charts, calendars, and data visualizations are original work, built from the sources cited alongside them.

Editorial and Sourcing Standards

The Frozen Egg makes claims about a medical process, so how those claims get made matters.

Primary sources first. Claims about how IVF works, what it costs, what it risks, and what results to expect are built from peer-reviewed research indexed in PubMed Central, guidance and ethics opinions from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, practice bulletins from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, national outcome data from SART and the CDC’s ART surveillance program, FDA documentation, publications from academic medical centers, and government health agencies. For questions of law and regulation outside the US, we go to the national regulator, such as the HFEA in the United Kingdom.

Sources are linked directly. When an article cites a figure, the link goes to the study or document containing it rather than to a homepage or a press release summarizing it. Every claim can be checked against its source.

Commercial sources are not evidence. Clinic and pharmacy websites, drug manufacturer marketing, fertility-benefit companies, and commercial health aggregators are not treated as evidence for success rates, cost, or risk. One narrow exception applies: where the fact originates with such a source, a clinic’s own published price list or a manufacturer’s stated product specifications, we may link to it as the primary record of that fact. Independent research still determines what it means. Those sources are never the final say.

Numbers are reported with their denominator. Success and outcome statistics in fertility change meaning depending on what they are measured against, per cycle started, per retrieval, per transfer, per patient, per infant, or per delivery. We say which one a figure uses, and we do not compare figures across different denominators.

Limitations are reported. Fertility research has real gaps. Sample sizes are often small, national reporting runs a year or more behind, protocols vary between clinics, and outcomes vary widely between individuals. Where a study has limitations, the article says so rather than presenting its findings as settled.

Advertisers have no editorial influence. No clinic, manufacturer, or provider pays for coverage or placement. See the advertising disclosure above for how the site is funded.

Review and Corrections

Every article carries the date it was last reviewed. When new research or new national data changes the picture, the article and its date are updated together.

Errors get corrected rather than quietly left. If you find a mistake, a broken source link, or a claim that does not match its citation, email hello@thefrozenegg.com. Corrections matter more to us than being right the first time.
