Starting is scary and overwhelming

Hi this is Sam. Ok, first post of our website. Here we go!

For many of us, the conversation about fertility and children starts when it’s the last thing on our minds — when someone asks when we’re having kids. “OMG Mom, stop, I don’t know. Not anytime soon!” In my 20s and especially early 30s, nearly all my friends were having kids. And naturally I considered what my life would be like with children. It was a big shrug so I tucked it right back into the deep crevices of my brain.

2019 I meet the love of my life Eric (you’ll hear from him in other posts). We get married in 2022. And for the first time for both of us actually, we genuinely and seriously think about children. We discuss it and we both very much agreed it’s something we’d pursue in the future, just not right now. So we start looking at egg and embryo freezing. We had a Telehealth consult with a fertility doctor who needed some major work on her phone-side manners. And quite honestly, that scared us off for over a year.

Now in 2026, we are starting back up again. We look on the internet first this time. But boy that was just as overwhelming. There are hundreds of clinics giving advice to then get you in their door. Medical journals that make the process feel so clinical and cold. People on reddit are talking about GnRH and stims and blastocysts and the 2WW. Ahhh!!! What???

We decided to start this Frozen Egg website hoping to give others a gentler start, while also having a place to store our discoveries and share our journey. It might be too much detail into our every step, but maybe it’ll help others who just don’t know what a first step or a second step might look like.
